Enrolment FAQ

When should I apply for the programme?

As early as possible! We always encourage early applications to ensure the best possible match to meet your needs.

How do I apply?

Submit your application form, c.v. and pay the deposit.

When can I start?

You can start any time of the year.

How much does enrolment cost?

To complete our internship programme, you are required to pay an initial £250 deposit prior to moving onto the interview stage. If you are not accepted onto the course, the deposit will be refunded. If you are accepted onto the programme and you change your mind or need to cancel (at any stage during the process), the deposit is non-refundable.

How old do I have to be to participate in work experience programme?

The minimum age is 18 years old.

What happens during the interview?

The interview last 20 approximately and allows us to gather more information about you. We will ask you questions about your background, interests and aspirations. From there we will discuss possible placements options and course requirements.

What is the placement test?

Our placement tests are designed to give us an assessment of your current English level. The test is not an exam and you will not be issued a pass or fail. The outcome will tell us which pathway is appropriate for you.

Payment & Cancellations

What is the payment schedule?

  1. The non-refundable deposit of £250 is required when you submit your application
  2. An initial payment of 50% of Student Fees is payable on acceptance of a place at the School as part of the student fees only.
  3. Full payment is required 28 days before departure for work placement (if your departure date is within the 28 days at point of application, full payment will be requested immediately.

How do I pay?

All fees should be paid in Pounds Sterling or Euros and payment can be made as follows:

You can pay by either:

  1. By bank transfer directly to our account.
  2. By cheque made out to Queensgate International College Limited.
  3. By UK Debit card. All debit card payments can only be in Pounds Sterling.

Are there charges for paying outside of the UK?

There may be additional charges issued to you by your bank. You will be expected to pay any bank charges, otherwise this will be charged to the student directly upon arrival.

What happens if I want to cancel my programme?

English Online

How do I book my lessons?

Once you have been accepted onto the programme, we will book your lessons.

How long are the lessons?

Lessons are 40 minutes long

Are the teachers native English speakers?

Yes, all teachers are native speakers

How many lessons do I need to take?

It depends on your level English. To complete an internship, you must work at B2+ (6.0)

Where do the lessons take place?

All lessons take place online on Skype or Zoom, depending on what works for you.

Can I change my lesson schedule each week?

Any change to your timetable is dependent on your teacher’s availability. You must submit your request in writing to hello@queensgatecollege.co.uk

Can I reschedule my lessons?

If you are unable to complete your lessons but have achieved English language level, we are happy to reschedule your remaining lessons post internship.

Work Placements

Where do the internship take place?

The majority of work placements take place in London or surrounding areas.

What can I expect from my internship?

You will be placed in a temporary position to carry out specific tasks or roles assigned by your supervisor.

Will I get time off from my placement?

You will work the business days and hours of the company you are matched. Most placements are full time with some requiring additional hours or days outside of normal business hours. You will not be expected to work during public holidays.

Accommodation and Transfer

Can I be picked up and dropped off at the airport?

Yes, we can arrange for you to be picked up and dropped off at any London airports. Please see our transfer price list for full details.

How can I find accommodation?

We are happy to help you find suitable accommodation for full or part of the time of the duration. During the application process, you will be asked to provide details of your requirements and we will work with our partner agent to find you suitable accommodation.

Can I request special dietary foods, for example halal or vegan?

Of course! Tell us what you require during the application process and we will try our best to facilitate your needs.

Can I request pet and/or children free home?

Yes, we want you to feel comfortable. We are happy to request specific restrictions to our partner agents to ensure you get exactly what you want.

Do I need a visa to complete the programme?
